No Repeat devlog
So i decided to start a devlog on a 9 day of jam:D
My english is not so good but i need an experience writing it myself so im sorry if its hard to understand.
Its my first jam and my first game so i would really like some feedback on my game!
Day 1:
The idea that came to my mind was changing controls at random. I didnt know if it counts as aberration but i had nothing better:D
So i was thinking about what genre will fit better with this and decided with a really simple platformer because it was really hard to play when your controls are changing randomly.
Done some basic things that was so bad that i changed it several time
Controls are changing randomly every 30 seconds
Wasnt able to decide on numbers: screen size, sprite size, jump force etc.
Day 2:
Added my first art
It was just a bit edited copy of some random asset, so i will change it later
I changed numbers a bit
Day 3:
Fully changed how player moves:D There was too many not needed things for a simple platformer. Now player can only jump with no things like release or ceiling bouncing(there is no ceiling) and move left and right. Still cant decide with numbers:D
Day 4:
Changed graphics now it looks like this:
This is my sketch of all things in aseprite
I really liked it. I dont care how simple it is:D
Done various platforms such as disappearing, moving, spring and conveyer
Day 5:
Finally decided with level design:D
It will be doodle jump-like game with randomly generated level
Tried to do some music in Bosca Ceoli. My ears took too many dmg so i went healing.
Nothing really done today
Day 6:
Done level generating. Really messy one but done. I was so proud
Added a CHROMATIC ABERRATION.
Day 7:
Redone my level generation because it was too doodle jump alike
I added random platform length generation, now player need to walk, not only jump
Controls are now changing when player touch a glitch
Oh how many troubles i had with this glitches...
Day 8:
Deleted disappearing platforms and conveyer(it didnt work and didnt fit:D)
Added spring(i didnt added it before because my level generation wasnt able to catch up the speed)
Added punching wall but i think it didnt do anything just playing herself...(when i decided to record it to gif i wasnt lucky enough so it didnt even spawn)
Tried to make music again, this time i was following tutorial. Better but i think now my brain is damaged
Day 9:
Added juicy stuff: screen shake, laser, sounds(made in ChipTone), slow motion and music(royalty free)
Now its playable so i removed some not needed things and made first build
You can try it now! And i would really like to have some feedback!
What i want to change from now:
1)Menu design
2)Music
3)Player animation
4)How controls are showing
5)Change how glitch works, may be adding random length or do so it will be of platform length
6)Change the difficulty(as it works now its fully random, you can do a 9000 score without changing controls...)
7)Add high score, and if it possible online leadersboard
8)Two player mode for a real keyboard tweaster:D
